​Specialise in agricultural vehicles and equipment with this hands on technical qualification and get yourself farm ready with the skills and knowledge to work on agricultural machinery and equipment.

This course is delivered in our Agricultural Mechanical Technology Centre (AMTC) where you'll learn about a range of mechanical technology including charging systems, starting systems, heavy vehicle compression ignition engines, HV diesel fuel injection systems, mobile plant hydraulics and braking systems, final drive assemblies, and powershift transmissions and gain a range of skills and experience, including:

  • using a range of tools and equipment for automotive mechanical work;
  • carrying  out maintenance and servicing for agricultural vehicles;
  • selecting and using bearings, seals, gaskets, sealants and adhesives;
  • diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues in heavy vehicles and mobile plant systems;
  • responding to customer needs and enquiries; and
  • following environmental and sustainability best practice.

This course is available all year around at Muresk, and is also offered as an apprenticeship. 

Suitable for

This course is ideal for anyone wanting to get trade qualified and gain employment in agricultural field work, who enjoys working on machinery and using technology.

It will appeal to school leavers, career changers, or anyone wanting to update their skills according to current industry practices and equipment. No previous experience is required.

Prerequisites

No previous experience is required. 

  • School leavers require OLNA or NAPLAN 9 Band 8. 
  • Non-school leavers require C Grades in Year 10 English and Maths, or equivalent.
